Starting the week Monday at Green Valley. The weather was perfect and overcast for most of the day. It rained in Pattaya overnight but not at Rayong. It has only been a week since the Singha tournament but the course has retained the additional work that had been completed. All poor areas were still ringed white advising you of GUR. one van and a couple of cars of the locals played, we finished in just under 4 hours. two guys with 42 points both AUS Richie McGhee and Steve Coghlan another two with 40 points, JP Thomas THA and Jeff Achesson US Project Smile near pin Mimi Fujimoto JPN
Pattavia Century Tuesday, still providing good value for money. With the new highway off 7 we arrive within 45 minutes of leaving LK. No traffic lights. The discussion in the van on the ride home was the same. The greens had been rolled and cut. The winner today off 6 told me he had one 4 putt and four 3 putts. two guys with 32 points Carlos Aguirre US and Ben Herbert US off 6 and also the Project Smile near pin but 3 putts to finish the hole. He smiled when he told me he used all his handicap in putting
Thursday Eastern Star. Continuing with the good weather, overcast with a little wind. One and a half vans so the numbers reasonable. Played the white tees, second from the front. The scores reflected the difficulty of the extra length. Greens fast and hard although the surrounds appeared to be a little damp, so the short irons in did not roll on. I thought perhaps they had been watering the greens and as we know the water rolled off and just laid there on the fringes. Zed Beloglavic AUS 32 points off 17 the bandit from NZ (playing to form) 31 points Trevor Egan AUS 30 points off 28 Project Smile near pin Mark Wood rolled Dale Shier (Wasn’t there some whinging) and made the putt
Finished off the week at Parichat Links. This is now one my favourites. Today we had two guys off 6 playing with the Golf Club. They both remarked how good the course was without solicitation. I can only repeat, the course is still being remodelled on a couple of holes and every visit further grass has been laid which continues to enhance the course. Carlos Aquirre US 36 points off 27 plus Project Smile near pin, 128 yards , wind coming from the left and left himself a 2 inch putt. Picture enclosed Peture P 35 points off 6 A great day at the office in overcast conditions. Played under four hours, back in time for the footy Aussie finals
