Another eventful week passes!
Monday our normal venture to Green Valley. Just as we arrived a huge downpour but by the time we made the first tee at 9.20 it had stopped. I’m thinking by the time the first group were on the first green it was dry and playable. I was in the last group, some 7 groups later and we would not have known it rained at all. The first hole didn’t worry me as I had a wipe and Steven (my playing partner) caddied assisted by Rose had a birdie and she earned her first 100 bonus. A good day overall, no hold ups and finished in 4 hours 20 minutes.
Gary Emmett 41 points off 16
38 points for Brian Wilkinson off 25 (slv), Nick Hanscombe off 13 and Steven Downs off 8
followed up by David Ferris 37 points off 18 get out of jail free card to Dan Deitz, Bill Baturin, Alain Hefner, Peter LeNoury and Bill Meader all with 36 points
Greenwood is playing very well, the course is in great nick. Fairways and greens hard to fault. Today the scores reflected allowing the group to play from the front tees. Maybe the blue tee next time 55 Mirek Sole 43 points off 21, 41 points for both Dan Dietz off 11 (two weeks holiday, playing well and losing a shot a week from his handicap) and Bud Omera off
16 also playing well. Project Smile near pin Louis Ventimiglia and sank the putt.
Treasure Hill was the destination for Thursday, great rate, 1400 all in. The fairways are a little dry and consequently hard and favour drives that are low and can run. The greens are hard and fast. Tough track off the front tee with many fairways protected by trees, they were probably small for the original design but not now.
Tall handsome captain 37 points off 17 forgot young three guys with 36 points, Bill Baturin off 17, Louis Ventiniglia off 17 also and Bill Meader off 12 (the hard surface really suited his driving.
The weekend is upon us, off to Silky Oak, where you would think the locals should clean up. Well it was not to be. The greens are average at best, the fairways better combined with water. Discussion in the bar was how many balls lost for the day. That about sums it up.
Louis Ventimiglia 43 points off 21 (he told me 6 times the best score he has ever had in Thailand), Brett Chan 40 off 19 and near pin. Both Peter LeNoury and Bill Baturin, both with 40 points off 16.
