Monday is the regular trip to Green Valley, of recent times the weather has been fine. The course is playing as good as ever. The greens are in great shape. Our numbers are about average for this time of year.
The results were mostly spread among the locals, JP Thomas who is married to Peter swept the board as the winner. I’m thinking in the Thomas household Peter did the dishes Monday evening.
JP Thomas 41 points off 22 Fred Birch and Mike Koh finished the 18th with 37 points. JP also won the near pin for Project Smile.
Tuesday up the highway to Khao Kheow, the course and greens are playing well, greens steady and true. Played the middle yellow tees. Played A and B my personal preference. Hitting off on A was into the breeze with tees back and then on the turn after hole 4 tees forward with the breeze.
Four players ended equal with 37 points, Ken Aihara, Dale Shier, Mark Wood and Dave Johl who also was the nearest to the pin on the 8B (the island green). Ken (the 7* General) had 37 after 16 holes but the Pete Dye water was just too good to resist.
The weather has been great all week. Thursday was no exception, Greenwood was our destination today. There was a small breeze. Greenwood is currently green and plush with sprinklers working, I’m thinking rainy season has filled their reserves. Today we played the front tees, you had to play well to make the podium.
Akiyoshi Yamomot with 41 off 20 together with Bud Omera with 41 off 16 Ishi had 40 points off 17 and not to be left out Ken Aihara won the near pin Project Smile, surprise surprise.
Friday heading into the weekend we played Pleasant Valley, the manager rang me a couple of months ago and asked me why never put them on the schedule. She gave us a great price and there you have it.
TJ the wife of Andy Leach (a regular who has been coming to Thailand for over 20 years) carried in two new wedges this morning. The new Ping model, 56 and 60 degree, thinking outside the box the club he used yesterday at Greenwood probably can’t swim.
David Tohl 40 points off 18 Bahadur Lidder 37points off 15 Nick Hanscombe 34 off 12 The Project Smile near pin winner Tsuji Keiichi
