Monday, Monthly Medal and Medal of Medals. JMcQ asked to create a “Medal of Medals “for the previous 12 months of winners with a minimum of 5. Counting this morning we were short so I
extended the qualifying time for 2 years, 2017 and 2018. This gave me a field of 8 or 9. The prize of course was a “Golf Club shirt” with the appropriate embroidery.
Green Valley is in terrific condition, nearly a third of our competition players beat their handicap. The numbers were greater than a January Monday as some guys are in town to participate in the February Ryder Cup away trip.
Barry Tregurtha net 65 off 21…. winner, winner chicken dinner…by the locals commonly known as a “loveable rogue” but in my country “Barry the Bushranger”
Peter Thomas net 68 off 20 and winner of the Medal of Medals
Dave Mathers net 69 off 13
Steve Mulberry net 69 off 13
Terry Danzos net 69 off 21
Fred Birch net 69 off 16
Mimi net 70 off 7
Not far from home, Tuesday ventured to Pattaya Country Club. Over the years since I have been here the course is improving and those who don’t know they have a new Club House that is very nice.
Andy Leach 40 points off 8, must be those new wedges
Mimi 39 points off 7, a Japanese Phil Michelson
Bahadur Lidder 37 off 15
Bud Omera 37 off 15
Simon Burrows 37 off 24, from memory his first collect this trip.
For a number of years now, I think about 5, we have been travelling to Pattavia Century. This is a Chang course. They built a new club house about 2 years ago. Previously the greens were glass table tops, thinking of course with new green-keepers were probably new to the course. The greens now are very reasonable and don’t penalize you as much as they did. The scores today, Thursday reflect these remarks.
Ken Aihara off 7 and David Johl off 17 both had 42 points
Louis Ventimiglia off 19 had 40 points
Friday, I try to pick close courses for the end of the week. For the punters to get an early start for the weekend, but truly I try to race the Bangkok traffic to Pattaya. We played the reworked Parichat Links, the improvements were hardly noticed although presents very well. Ken Aihara off 7 38 points, that’s two in a row better than his handicap. The away trip starts this weekend with Kenny playing for the world side, I think the pommies are in trouble.
Michael Blumhagen 35 points off 10
David Johl 33 today off 15, a drop of 2 strokes from yesterday.
