TGC competition write up for week ending March 22
The scoring was good on Monday at Green Valley. Players needed 39 points and better for a Christmas card. Half of the greens were sanded which had little affect on the putt. They were dusted last week also, maybe the green keepers are expecting rain to wash in the sand. They still played great. the us postman, a great round of 43 points off 20 Dave Ferris Mimi, the Phil Michelson of Japan 40 points off 7, no luck needed with this guy, just solid. Also, with 40 Eva our local girls both with 39 points, JP Thomas and Yui Birch Project Smile near pin Franjo and sank the putt but gave the chip to Mark Wood
All weekend we watched the Players at Sawgrass, just got the field into the right frame of mind. Tuesday Khao Kheow, A & B. In great shape as expected. The greens were fast with a few grumbles of 3 and 4 putt holes. Hard to win in this field if your putting is not up to scratch. Mimi 39 points off 7, having a great run of form, just like the big guys and Project Smile near pin, missed the putt Dr Dan Dietz 38 off 10, also in a good patch, it’s the night time life style Stephen Downs US, has the airline on speed dial, every two weeks another extension 36 points off 8
Millionaire golf at Pattana on Thursday. Played B&C the same as last week. I think this course is the best value in town and with the new cut through freeway 50 minutes from home and one traffic light. A little overcast and slight breeze. Just perfect. Captain 40 points off 17 Jim Dundon 35 from 13 the shy and modest Aussie nurse Greg Gawron 34 points off 21 and not to be outdone the Project Smile near pin pro Dr Dan Dietz, missed the putt blamed the caddie, surprize surprize
For six years while driving in the driveway of Pattavia Century we read the signs “be below the flag” and when you are past it and putt downhill and miss “hello Bangkok”. But not today and greens are really green (obviously being watered) and today in need of a cut. Kenny Aihara would hate today whereas he would sit in the back of van just waiting to tear them apart. two guys with 37 points Zed Beloglavec and Bob Mulholland Project Smile near pin Stephen Downs US missed the putt A special thank you to Dr Dan Dietz for the visit, for the Refibrillator, for the support to the Golf Club bar and Grill and a special thank you from Project Smile for the near pin wins. Off to Bangkok now for a week of R & R. after six weeks with us.
